As a new real estate investor my goal was to learn all I could. I began by reading books watching videos and attending expensive real estate investing seminars offered by “wealth professionals”. I found CTREIA during a google search and decided to give it a try. My first meeting far exceeded my expectations. I anticipated a dozen or so individuals brainstorming around a table. WOW! I’m so impressed with this organization! I attended my first meeting on July 16th, with the anticipation of maybe 50 or so people in attendance. I’m guessing there was at least 300 hundred. Standing room only! Where have I been? I’ve been too busy attending those HIGH PRICED seminars! I made several very good contacts, the vendors were very helpful, the speaker had a wealth of information and the staff was very helpful with my membership. I attended my first CT REIA meeting 3 ½ years ago and I have seen the likes of CT HOMES, the Flip this House guys and many others that have moved on to the likes that I wanted to go. Time was a serious issue for me as I was in-between jobs, kids and family seems to take up all of my spare time. However after attending several CT REIA meetings I found that I really could make the time. Today I maintain a part-time job, my wife got involved and we now have a total of 18 apartments that we have updated and improved our neighborhood. I see CT REIA as helping change our city landscape!
We are providing better housing in our city one neighborhood at a time.

In the fall of 2004, I decided to focus my mortgage business on investment property financing. I did not join CTREIA with the intention of purchasing investment property, as many of you did. My primary purpose for joining was to increase my mortgage clientele who had an eye toward purchasing investment property. As time went on and I saw more and more deals crossing my desk, I realized I had to get involved. There was too much opportunity passing me by. My only previous experience was as a “landlord” of a condo for 16 years and I knew that the economy of scale was where I wanted to be. Having seen some large properties on Acer’s “Hot Sheet”, I began to inquire about them. Ron started showing me some properties and with his construction and engineering background, showed me what to look for and what to avoid. He also had a good feel for what the actual value of the property would be versus what the seller was asking. I bid and missed on a couple of properties before I had a deal on the 12 unit apartment building my LLC (thanks Harvey Weinstein) took ownership of on July 30th. Throughout the process, Ron answered all my rookie questions with the knowledge of an experienced investment property realtor.
Would I use Ron and Acer again? Absolutely. I would recommend them to any potential investment property investor, whether seasoned or want-to-be. These guys have the experience and the ability to find the right deal for you.
